History of Homeopathy
Developed over 200 years ago by  German physician Samuel Hahnemann today homeopathy is still practiced worldwide and although the times have changed, homeopathy still meets the needs of the modern world.

Homeopathy in the United States played a major role in the evolution of this profession. In the late 1900's there were many physicians offering homeopathy. At one point there were 20 homeopathic medical colleges and more than 100 homeopathic hospitals in the America!

In the past there was a decline in homeopathy in the US even though homeopathy continues to flourish in Europe and India.  However, homeopathy in the United States is now on the rise due to the constant over prescribing of  highly addictive pharmaceutical medications. Americans have now started to recognize homeopathy as the gentle, effective and non-addictive form of holistic medicine.

Treating the Individual
Homeopathy treats the individual and how specific ailments affect you personally.  For example, a patient may come with a headache but the headache only affects the temples with a throbbing pain.  Another patient may come with a headache, but the pain is in the back of the head that only begins in the morning and the patient feels dizzy.  So you see the same physical ailment can manifest differently in others.

By taking the individuality of a person into account, homeopathic remedies can target the exact causation of ill health.   Everyone wants to feel unique and special in some way and homeopathy does this.  It discovers the real you and through that processes all the personal upheavals you may have had in your life whether it be mentally, emotionally or physically.

During the consultation

As a homeopath Melisa provides a practical and common sense approach to your health. Homeopathy is free from toxins and chemicals and is a safe for all ages.  It can be used either exclusively or in conjunction with other forms of medicine. Homeopaths do not diagnose conditions (unless trained to do so), and Melisa will always encourage the patient to have a good relationship with their physician.

How long is the consultation? First consultations are always 1 hour 30 min, Follow ups usually are 45-60 minutes depending on your needs.

When will I get the remedy? Occasionally I may give you the remedy to take during the consultation or as you leave. Other times I may feel I need more time to look over your case. If this happens your remedy will be mailed out the following day. I will always post your remedies within 48 hours of our appointment.

What to expect after you take your remedy?

Many patients notice changes after taking their remedy.  Some patients experience a period of exceptional well-being and optimism.  Sometimes your symptoms can appear to get worse for a short time.  This is often a good sign that the remedy is taking effect.  Sometimes a cold, rash or some form of discharge may appear as a ‘spring cleaning’ effect which means your system is going through a clearing out stage.  Similarly, old symptoms can reappear, usually for a short period of time.

These symptoms are an important part of the healing process but, if any response to your treatment concerns you, do contact me as soon as you can.  You might also want to make notes of any changes and take them with you to discuss at your next appointment.

After your appointment

I offer continuous treatment, which means that as part of the fee, you may receive a reasonable amount of brief telephone support between regular appointments, providing you telephone at the allocated times. Help is therefore available for acute ailments that arise in between appointments (nb: a charge is made for remedies sent out).
